Ms Tutu Severino Phina Uses Music

        to Promote Girl-Child Education

        and Fight against HIV/AIDS

Music as an effective and emotional means of communication has greatly shaped
the political and social history of the world and continues to do so even in South
Sudan. In Western Equatoria State (WES), Ms Tutu Severino Phina uses her music
prowess to promote Girl-Child Education and fight against HIV/AIDS. Gurtong’s WES
Correspondent Joseph Nashion caught up with Ms Tutu whose dreams include building
her own business empire and joining the movie industry.

Nashion: Who is Tutu S. Phina?
        Tutu: I am Tutu S. Phina, a 24-year-old female
artist from Western Equatoria State (WES). Tutu is
my real name, nobody should play about that and
the S. stands for Severino, my father’s name.
Nashion: Are you married or engaged?
Tutu: Oh not really. I am not married but searching
though not very ready to mingle.
Nashion: When did you join the music industry
        and what inspired you?
Tutu: I started my music in 2009 and what inspired
was I used to be a Sunday school member since
childhood. I loved singing and dancing, in fact
that is what gave me a push to the music industry.
My other dream I am yet to achieve to become an
actress. I believe soon I will make it come true.
Nashion: What do you sing about?
Tutu: I sing about HIV/AIDS to alert the public
on the dangers of the scourge. I also sing about Ms Tutu Severino Phina at the studio in Yambio. [Gurtong | Joseph Nashion]
